Boston man facing animal cruelty charges after viral video

BOSTON (WPRI) — Investigators have identified the man who was caught on camera beating his dog with a leash in Dorchester earlier this year, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Akeem Pierre, 42, of Boston, has since been charged with animal cruelty and animal cruelty by a custodian.

The investigation into Pierre began back in June, when the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) received footage of an unidentified man hitting the cowering dog with a leash while out for a walk.
