A jury heard evidence and testimony Tuesday, Oct. 21, in a case against Cory Alan Cowart, 38, for the 2021 murder of Robert Javaris Grant. The after retiring to consider the case, the jury returned a guilty verdict Oct. 22.
“We tried case where Cory Cowart was charged with the murder of Robert Grant at the BP station at the [intersection of U.S.] Highway 80 and [Alabama Highway 97],” said District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer. “I did not personally try the case. Ben McGough and Steven Towns tried it.
“They, and our team, did a good job. I’m pleased with that, and we hope that the judge will sentence him accordingly.”…
