ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A witch is a classic spooky figure throughout history, but this week’s cryptid is somehow a more sinister version that steals life from the sick and dying: the Raven Mocker.
The Raven Mocker comes from Cherokee mythology, where it is described as a witch or sinister spirit that extends its lifespan by preying on the sick and dying. Due to their nature, they are often described as withered and aged, given how many lives they’ve added to their own.
Their namesake comes from the cries they let out at night as they fly through the sky. They are said to resemble a raven’s caw but are much more chilling…
