Sandia Pueblo celebrates opening of early childhood development center

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Friday morning, state leaders gathered at the Sandia Early Childhood Development Center for its grand opening. The center is designed to give the youngest members of the Pueblo of Sandia great learning opportunities, with the center featuring a library, sensory room, and much more.

State officials spoke about the importance of the facility and what it means for the community. “This is not only a space where kids will learn math and their reading and writing skills, but also, as the governor has said, to help kids who may be struggling. It’s got a library, there’s all kinds of beautiful spaces. But it is importantly also a space that will create the future because, as you all know, culture and language are a part of the fabric of our communities,” said Melanie Stansbury (D- NM).

The facility was built by the SMPC architects and measures around 2,500 square feet…
