WATERVLIET — The city of Watervliet has imposed a Halloween curfew, restricting the times when unaccompanied minors can roam the streets on Halloween and the night before Halloween, also known as Cabbage Night or Mischief Night.
The city appears to be the lone municipality in Albany County to impose a Halloween curfew. It comes after city officials have expressed concern in recent months over the number of criminal incidents involving young people.
The adopted curfew states unaccompanied minors, or those under the age of 18, must be off the streets between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Oct. 30 and 31. It bans any minor from remaining, loitering, wandering, strolling or playing in any public place within the city during this time, according to the city ordinance. Exceptions include traveling to and from work and an “emergency errand directed by a parent, guardian or custodian.”…
