“Kind of Awkward”: Confident ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Stumbles in Bonus Round

LOS ANGELES, CA – A recent episode of “Wheel of Fortune” delivered a dose of humble pie to an otherwise successful contestant, whose bold prediction of victory in the Bonus Round ultimately fell flat. Cherie Noisette, who had already banked a respectable $21,350, found herself in a “Kind of Awkward” situation, proving that even the most confident players can be stumped by a tricky puzzle.

Noisette, brimming with enthusiasm, told host Ryan Seacrest that a watch party was already underway for her appearance and confidently declared her Bonus Round outcome: “Me, winning. Us hugging.” With her aunt and two cousins cheering her on from the audience, Noisette spun the wheel, landing on the coveted star.

Opting for the “Phrase” category, Noisette was given the standard R, S, T, L, N, E, and then selected D, M, H, and A. While these were not poor letter choices, they didn’t illuminate much of the puzzle, which displayed as: “_ ND _ _ A _ _ARD.”

With a mere 10 seconds on the clock, Noisette quickly deciphered the third word as “AWKWARD” but struggled to identify the preceding words. As the timer dwindled, she resignedly uttered, “Awkward,” just as time expired.

Seacrest then revealed the full solution: “KIND OF AWKWARD.” The host further disclosed that the envelope contained an additional $40,000, a sum that would have significantly boosted Noisette’s winnings.

Despite the missed opportunity, Noisette remained in good spirits, having secured $21,350. Seacrest commended her effort on what he acknowledged was a particularly challenging puzzle.

The “Wheel of Fortune” faithful took to social media to share their thoughts on the near-miss. One viewer commented, “I was thinking ‘kind of’ from RSTLNE, and then I solved it when her letters came up 🥳.

She won a lot, but it’s too bad she didn’t solve the final puzzle.” Another playfully quipped, “Well, that is kind of awkward how every contestant didn’t win the bonus round.”

A third observed, “Needed her picks and about 5-6 seconds. That was a toughie IMO.”

While Noisette’s bonus round didn’t end with the “hugging” victory she envisioned, her confident demeanor and substantial initial winnings made for an entertaining segment, reminding viewers that on “Wheel of Fortune,” sometimes even the most prepared players can find themselves in a “kind of awkward” predicament.
