PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The theft of the French Crown Jewels from the Louvre this week and the infamous theft of 13 works of art from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990 have something in common: Both heists are currently unsolved.
Anthony Amore is an art theft expert who has worked in security with the Federal Aviation Administration and written multiple books on art heists. The University of Rhode Island alum is currently the Director of Security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. He also leads the efforts to recover the art stolen roughly 35 years ago.
“In my role at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, looking for our lost paintings, I speak to a lot of people who have stolen art before,” Amore told 12 News on Friday. “We’re working every day to try to recover this art. It’s that important.”…
