An incident in southeast Atlanta escalated yesterday afternoon, resulting in a 23-year-old man being shot and a child briefly taken by the fleeing suspect. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police were dispatched to 925 Conley Road Southeast around 3:35 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered the wounded man, who was conscious and breathing, and dispatched him to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators relayed that the suspect exited the scene in a vehicle with a child already inside at the time of the shooting. A search ensued until the vehicle was located near the 3100 block of Donnebrook Lane SE, where officers were able to safely recover the child. The individual suspected of the shooting, however, remains at large and has not been apprehended, as reported by 11Alive. Police have not disclosed any description of the suspect or the vehicle, nor whether surveillance video of the incident was retrieved.
Amid the chaos, authorities confirmed that the child was found unharmed. “At this time, we cannot confirm the vehicle was stolen; however, the suspect did flee the scene with a child located in the vehicle.
