WOODLAWN, MD—Baltimore County and Security Square Holding LLC have taken a major step toward revitalizing the aging Security Square Mall, announcing the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) to attract a private developer for a 69-acre mixed-use community hub.
The RFP follows a joint agreement between the county and the mall’s private owner to put their respective properties on the market for a comprehensive redevelopment. The vision, developed through the “Reimagine Security Square” initiative, is to create a vibrant, walkable, transit-connected destination on the site of the former retail center.
“This is a reimagining of what’s possible when government, community, and private partners come together to create something transformational,” said Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier. “I have long supported this project, and look forward to working with the team that will help write the next chapter for Security Square and the entire west side of Baltimore County.”…
