Community urged to participate in drug take back day to reduce risk of overdose and misuse

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF)– The Kettering Police Department is one of many places community members can drop off their unwanted and expired prescriptions for DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday. Dayton 24/7 Now’s, Kysha Hancock caught up with Montgomery County ADAMHS and Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County about how this day can make our communities safer.

“We wanna limit access to unused drugs and drugs that are expired. They can be easily accessible to children and others that don’t have a need and don’t have any business taking those drugs,” said Jennifer Wentzel, health commissioner at public health.

This year marks the 29th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day hosted by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and local organizations are encouraging residents to give back expired, unnecessary, and unused prescription drugs…
