Chicago businesses in the 17th and 25th districts are on high alert after a spate of daring daylight robberies has the neighborhoods on edge. The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert following a series of armed robberies, where suspects strike businesses in quick succession, demonstrating unmistakable boldness and a clear pattern. According to the CPD’s community alert, the incidents involve one offender who makes a move as if intending to make a legitimate purchase. When the unsuspecting clerk opens the cash register, the culprit seizes the opportunity to grab the cash before fleeing the scene.
These aren’t isolated incidents; they are part of a disturbing trend that’s seen businesses targeted multiple times over the past month. Instances occurred on the 1600 block of North Pulaski Ave. on October 3rd and again on the 23rd, as well as on the 4700 block of West Belmont Ave. and the 3200 North Milwaukee Ave on the same day.
