Judge sentences man accused of trying to shoot three at Harvey restaurant

HARVEY, La. — A man who allegedly tried to shoot three people outside a Harvey restaurant last year in January, but failed because his gun jammed has been sentenced to prison.

Ronald Barrios, 44, pleaded guilty on Monday, Oct. 20, to three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to Jefferson Parish court records. He withdrew his not guilty plea on each assault count and entered a guilty plea, receiving 10 years for each count, all to be served concurrently.

Barrios had originally been facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder. On Sept. 10, after a two-day trial, the court declared a mistrial on those charges, but jurors had still voted to convict him of obstruction of justice…
