Organizers said the celebration comes on the heels of pivotal legislation passed in New Mexico in 2023 that mandates health insurance coverage for activity-specific prosthetics and orthotic devices. “We’re hearing stories from across the state for people getting physically active for the first time in 17 years. You are hearing people return back to work because they are able to be physically active and stay healthy,” said Kyle Stepp, organizer.
