Caldwell housing authority executive director, city official respond to Farmway Village annexation concerns levied by mayoral candidate

CALDWELL — Concerns from some city residents soared after Caldwell Housing Authority’s Farmway Village was annexed into city limits a few months ago.

Located at 22730 Farmway Road off State Highway 44, the 80-acre land was first approved for annexation by Caldwell Planning and Zoning on June 11. At a July city council meeting, the city of Caldwell officially voted to annex Farmway Village into city limits.

Farmway Village was built in 1939 under the New Deal to house displaced farmers after the Great Depression. It was then transferred to the Caldwell Housing Authority in the 1950s. It has historically provided farm-labor housing for the agriculture community in Caldwell, by providing units for H-2A visa temporary agriculture workers…
