Man charged for Ballston robbery extradited to Saratoga County

BALLSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 32-year-old Joseph Hess was extradited on Saturday in connection to a Ballston robbery investigation. The Frankfurt man was arrested by U.S. Marshals in South Philadelphia on October 21.

Hess is accused of stealing a purse in the parking lot of the Church Avenue McDonald’s in Ballston on October 16. While fleeing the scene, he allegedly hit a 76-year-old woman with his car, resulting in the victim requiring treatment for compound leg fractures at Albany Medical Center.

Hess was taken into custody after a multi-state search spanning around four and a half days. After being returned to Saratoga County on Saturday, he was arraigned before Judge Ellwood Sloat in Malta Town Court on the charges of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. He was held at the Saratoga County Jail ahead of further proceedings.
