The tenth month of 2025 is almost over and this is as good a time as any before the holidays to have a week with fewer local meetings. That will hopefully allow me to take some more time to catch up on some loose ends.
On Monday, the General Assembly will reconvene at 4 p.m. in a special session to take up the idea of redistricting Congressional maps in order to provide a partisan advantage for one of the two established political parties. This is in response to efforts taking place in other states across the country in advance of the 2026 federal election.
This comes in a year in which we’ve seen the Federal Executive Institute closed and given to the University of Virginia, a Department of Justice investigation into UVA that resulted in the resignation of a popular president, and hundreds of other ways in which the 2024 election resulted in a fundamental shift in this country’s direction…
