Cooler, wet week ahead

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s another chilly morning with temperatures in the upper 40s inland and lower 50s along the coast. Highs across the coast will be in the upper 60s to maybe 70 degrees. Inland temperatures will be in the upper 60s to near 70. A mix of sun and clouds will last us into the afternoon. Partly cloudy skies will turn mostly cloudy tonight with a few chances for some light sprinkles. Most everyone will stay mainly dry today, with a better chance for showers on Monday.

On Monday, we cool down and it will be a breezy and rainy day across the area. A coastal low-pressure system will spin up. The exact track of the low pressure will depend on how much rainfall is possible. The closer the low-pressure system tracks to the coast, the more rainfall will be possible. The heaviest rain will be along the coast. It will be lighter as you move inland. Depending on the track, we could see between 1/2 inches to 1 1/2 inches west to east. If the low-pressure system tracks closer to the coast, we could see an inches to 4 inches from Inland to the coast. Temperatures will be stuck in the low 60s across the area, but if the high pressure is a little stronger, it is possible some areas could stay in the 50s.

The unsettled weather continues Tuesday through Thursday. The low pressure system along the coast will be in the area. This will lead to cool, breezy and showery periods along the coast back toward Florence and Lumberton. Once you get west of Interstate 95, rain chances will be lower. We could see an inch or two more of rainfall. Temperatures will again be stuck in the low to mid-60s. We could see some areas manage the upper 50s. It will feel noticeably cooler…
