BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A First Alert Weather Day continues across central Alabama as widespread rain moves through the region.
The upper-level low pressure system is expected to track across the area through early Monday, bringing periods of rain and a few isolated thunderstorms. While instability remains limited, some locations could see rainfall amounts over one inch. Because of the recent dry stretch and hard-packed soil, much of this rain will run off instead of soaking in, which could lead to isolated instances of minor flooding or brief runoff issues in low-lying areas.
The Next 24 Hours: Rain coverage should gradually decrease overnight into early Monday, though medium chances for scattered showers are expected to linger into the morning hours.
Tuesday may bring a brief break in the rain as this first system exits the region. Another strong upper-level system is expected to approach from the mid-Mississippi Valley Tuesday night, bringing another round of widespread rain and a few storms into Wednesday and Thursday.
