Local non-profits help bring joy back to Ukrainian children

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) —In the midst of the war-torn country of Ukraine, Yarinka is using her connections with Amarillo nonprofits to bring a sense of hope and joy to the children of Ukraine.

“Yarinka and I have been friends for over 20 years, helping her with her missionary work both outside of Ukraine and in Ukraine since the war began. We’ve helped her with lots of connections, networks, helping her to get connected with others who are very interested in being involved in the work that she’s doing,” added Becky Ruland with International Networx. “Helping to send funds over to her.”

With the help of nonprofits and donations from the people of Amarillo, Yarinka has been able to refurbish a home that was liberated by Russian soldiers and make it into a safe place for the children of the region.

“The need is just so great, the destruction of that one village we were in, Yarinka, where she works. The school is completely destroyed. Their school is completely destroyed. The village at the time was pretty well decimated as well. So the kids had nowhere to go. They had nothing to do. So this gave them a safe place,” added Christian Relief Fund Executive Director Kevin Wasner…
