On Oct. 31, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Rodda Family located on 402 East Pacific St. will be primed and ready for trick or treaters from all around the Appleton community.
Since 2022, the Rodda Family has been going all out in decorating their house for Halloween. It has been Jim “Gentleman Jim” Rodda’s creative outlet since changing careers during the pandemic. As a video game designer turned IT technician, Rodda needed a passion project to focus his creativity on and his ship, or the “Painted Lady,” was what he decided on.
The Painted Lady and its crew is a family run attraction, which includes Lawrence University junior, Leo Rodda. He is in charge of the online presence of @piratesoflakewinnebago on Instagram where people can keep up with the immersive story and lore that comes along with The Pirates of Lake Winnebago along with finding out more information about the upcoming festivities.
Every year, the Rodda family tries to add one new big build to the house and this year’s addition is a giant clam that will hold a “Sea Hag,” played by Jim Rodda’s daughter, Phoebe, who plans to insult anyone that she deems prettier than her…
