HPD: Officer working traffic control injured when driver plows into his vehicle

HOUSTON — A Houston police officer was injured early Saturday after a truck slammed into his patrol vehicle while he was blocking traffic at a crash scene on the North Freeway, authorities said.

The crash happened near the exit on I-45 and West Road. Sgt. Mike Barrow with the Houston Police Department said the officer had been working traffic control for a crash and was trying to block traffic from getting on the entry ramp.

While the officer’s vehicle was positioned to stop incoming cars, Barrow said a truck plowed into the officer’s vehicle, causing severe damage and injuring him…
