Council agrees to two curb cuts

Sharing growing citizen concerns about traffic congestion along N.W. 10th Street, the Yukon City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allow two curb cuts for drives to a new proposed commercial development in Oklahoma City limits.

Sooner Investment had requested four curb cuts for its proposed Ten West Center retail project, but council members were adamant they do not want to increase problems with vehicle traffic and noise levels along Yukon’s south border.

The developer has planned a 15-lot retail center with parking areas – but no apartments – on a 55.11-acre property just north of Interstate 40 east of the Czech Hall Road/Cornwell interchange. The site is directly south of the Parkland Heights housing addition.

“I want to thank all the residents of Ward 2 who reached out,” said Ward 2 Council Member Shelli Selby, whose home backs up to 10th Street. “We can’t stop Oklahoma City developing behind us. But, hopefully tonight, we did help with curb cuts.”…
