Man accused of assault sets own house on fire during standoff, Lane Co. sheriff says

LANE COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – A man was arrested for assault charges on Saturday after he burned his house down during a standoff with deputies in Lane County, according to the sheriff’s office.

At about 3 p.m., deputies with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office were sent to an address on Highway 36 in Blachly, after people reported a man had assaulted two people with batons and then threatened them with an axe, LCSO said.

The man, identified as 60-year-old Darin Dwayne Watson of Blachly, refused to speak with deputies and instead allegedly threw items at them from inside his home, according to LCSO.

Several hours after deputies brought in an armored vehicle and a drone to try and contact Watson, he allegedly set his own house on fire…
