High school student hit and killed while walking to bus stop in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Officers confirm an 18-year-old high school student was killed Monday morning while walking to a bus stop in Marion County.

Ocala Police Department officers say the Forest High School senior was struck by a car on Northwest Old Blitchton Road near Seventh Street.

School district officials identified the victim as Shannon Rushing. Officers say she died from her injuries. The driver was a 60-year-old woman, officers say.
