KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville City Council is scheduled to discuss a resolution to provide $125,000 to help 125 people experiencing homelessness in Knoxville.
The item is on the agenda for the meeting on Tuesday. Through this, the city hopes to provide “rapid re-housing services” to individuals and families who are “literally homeless,” meaning those living in places not meant for habitation or in temporary shelters, as well as people living in institutions who had previously been living in a shelter or a place not meant for habitation.

The contract is with the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee, which helps those who are disabled, unemployed or underemployed, as well as those with special needs, according to the contract. In addition to helping them find housing, CAC will work with each person to develop an individual financial plan and provide them with support for the first six months after finding housing.
“This assistance will provide the opportunity for literally homeless youth, families with children, seniors and individuals living on the streets to obtain permanent housing scattered throughout the community,” the contract said…
