The cities of Alcoa and Maryville plan to expand the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant at 4541 Wheeler Road in Louisville. The project will take place in phases over the next decade. Its goal is to modernize the plant and increase its capacity to meet community needs and regulatory requirements.
On Thursday, the Maryville Public Building Authority reviewed project proposals. The authority approved a $550,000 pre-construction services contract with Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, an Alabama-based company. Brasfield & Gorrie will work with Jacobs Engineering to provide design input, cost estimates, scheduling, and contractor coordination. The final design documents are expected by January 2027.
The upgrades will include new liquid and solid phase treatment equipment and improvements to support facilities. The plant has served Alcoa, Maryville, and the Knox-Chapman Utility District since the 1970s. It currently treats about 11 million gallons of water daily for 26,000 customers…
