New winter shelter planned as Lexington addresses homeless crisis

LEXINGTON, Ky. — As the temperatures drop, the City of Lexington and homeless shelters are gearing up for a need in winter housing. Soon, the city will open its temporary winter shelter for the next few months.

Gregory Searight does not have a permanent home but continues to have a positive mindset despite the challenges. He spends most of his time at the Catholic Action Center.

“As homeless people, we learn how to survive together; we learn how to stick together; that’s the point in sticking together is never giving up,” Searight said…
