Florida Woman Sought For $23,600 Bitcoin Warrants Scam

Detectives in Florida are asking for the public’s help in locating Kenique Bellamy, a 31-year-old woman wanted in connection with a sophisticated warrants scam that defrauded a victim of $23,600.

Bellamy is accused of posing as an MCSO employee and convincing an unsuspecting victim that they had missed federal jury duty and had an active arrest warrant. Investigators say the suspect utilized classic scare tactics, allegedly threatening to haul the victim off to jail in front of friends and family if the supposed “federal fines” weren’t paid immediately.

Under Bellamy’s instruction, the victim was convinced to deposit thousands of dollars into a Bitcoin ATM as payment. This type of warrant scheme, in which scammers impersonate law enforcement and demand payment via untraceable methods such as cryptocurrency, has become a growing problem in the region…
