Increased Police Patrols in Our Area to Target Impaired and Reckless Driving During Halloween Week

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced more State Police and local law enforcement patrols across New York during the Halloween period. The enforcement campaign, funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, began on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and will continue through Friday, October 31, 2025. The goal is to improve safety for all New Yorkers, especially children, as Halloween has a higher risk for young pedestrians.

Governor Hochul urged drivers to avoid impaired, distracted, or fast driving. She said law enforcement will focus on stopping unsafe driving during the holiday. Mark J.F. Schroeder, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, also advised people to plan for a sober ride if they use alcohol or drugs.

Superintendent Steven G. James of the New York State Police said troopers will be active to help keep roads safe. He encouraged drivers to plan ahead and be careful, especially with more pedestrians on Halloween…
