The City of Toledo has launched a program to replace lead service lines at licensed childcare facilities. The project is funded by a $500,000 grant from H2Ohio. The goal is to provide lead-free water to children under six, who are at higher risk of lead exposure.
To find eligible sites, the city is comparing childcare facility licenses with water service records. Providers will be invited to enroll in the program. After registration, the city will work with contractors to replace both city- and customer-owned lead lines during one visit.
