JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Mayor John Horhn announced he nominated Akilah Irvin to the Jackson Public Schools (JPS) Board of Trustees.
The mayor said Irvin, a Jackson resident, brings years of experience in education advocacy, nonprofit leadership, and public service. She previously served on various school and community advisory committees.

“Akilah understands what it means to serve and to lead,” said Horhn. “Her perspective as a JPS alum, JPS parent and a community advocate will help strengthen our district and keep us focused on what matters most, our students.”
