My Friend Rick Treviño: A Texas Original
I’ve known Rick Treviño a long time, ever since the spring of 1993 when he swung by my radio studio to share a brand-new single called “Just Enough Rope.” That was right before his big Nashville debut with Columbia Records, and even back then, I could tell he had something special. Rick was born in Austin, Texas, raised on country roots and Tex-Mex rhythm, and his sound has been proudly Texas ever since.
Over the years, he’s kept that Lone Star spirit alive, writing, recording, and performing songs that blend heart, soul, and true-to-life storytelling. These days, Rick is still filling dancehalls across Texas and the South, sometimes bringing a little Tejano flair to the stage, but always staying true to his country and Texas Red Dirt sound.
Every time Rick’s back in town, there’s a good chance he’ll stop by the studio for some live conversation, talking music, faith, and life. That’s what makes this night so personal for me. He’s not just a country star, and he’s family to those of us in the Texas music world.
Supporting Wylie Students and Texas Agriculture
When you come out to this show, you’re doing more than catching a great concert, and you’re helping support the next generation of West Texas ag leaders. From future farmers and ranchers to welders, vet techs, and ag science innovators, these students represent the very best of what our community stands for.
