Two earthquakes were recorded within hours of each other near Marion, North Carolina, and witnesses report they felt shaking miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quakes registered as a 2.2 around 1:20 a.m. and a 2.1 around 6:35 a.m. on Oct. 24, and both were centered about two miles north, northwest of the popular tourist town in McDowell County.
