Police: ‘Armed, dangerous’ man in custody after WNC convenience store shooting

MARION, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Marion Police Department reports a suspect considered armed and dangerous was arrested at the end of a search after a shooting in a convenience store parking lot on Monday.

Officers said the North Carolina Highway Patrol located 40-year-old Robert Owens in Burke County as a passenger in a vehicle driven by a woman.

Owens was taken back to McDowell County and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was not give a bond and place in the McDowell County Jail, police said.
