Police seek suspects after robbery attempt at south Columbus business

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Columbus police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects involved in a robbery attempt at a business on the city’s southeast side.

On Saturday, a Black male and a Black female entered a store in the 2700 block of Winchester Pike. Investigators say the female suspect tried to leave with unpaid merchandise while the male suspect attempted to steal the store’s cash register. The clerk was able to prevent the drawer from being taken, but police say the man then grabbed the clerk’s personal belongings before fleeing the store with the woman.

A brief struggle occurred between the clerk and the male suspect outside the business, during which the clerk was able to recover some of his property…
