GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — More than 1.4 million Michiganders could lose access to food assistance next week as the federal government shutdown forces a pause in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has directed Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services to pause issuing November SNAP payments starting Saturday due to the lapse in federal funding.
