A raccoon in Pooler, in west Chatham County near the I-16 and I-95 interchange, has tested positive for rabies, according to the Chatham County Health Department. On October 21, 2025, a resident reported that a raccoon attacked their family dog. Animal services collected the raccoon and confirmed rabies through testing.
