The Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office will mail property tax bills to county property owners by November 1, 2025. Property owners should note key payment deadlines and available payment options. Those not in the 10-month payment plan can pay their 2025 property taxes in full or in two installments. The first installment is due by November 10, 2025, and becomes delinquent after December 10, 2025. The second installment is due April 10, 2026, and is delinquent after May 10, 2026.
New Mexico law makes property taxes the responsibility of the property owner, even if a bill is not received. The county will not send a second bill for the April installment. Owners must remember to pay on time to avoid penalties. Late payments incur a one percent penalty per month, with a minimum of five dollars and a maximum of five percent of the total tax. Unpaid balances also accrue a one percent monthly interest charge.
