Lawsuit blames police chase for Alabama teen’s death

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — The family of an Alabama teenager who was killed in a crash during a police chase is suing the driver who caused the wreck, a police officer, and the city that employed him.

An administrator for the estate of 17-year-old Tristan Hollis filed the civil complaint in Morgan County Circuit Court this week.

Hollis died on September 6th, when the car he was riding in was hit during a high-speed pursuit.

The lawsuit names several defendants, including Archie Hale, the driver who police say was fleeing at speeds topping 100 miles per hour, and Officer Garry Chapman, the Priceville officer accused of chasing Hale beyond his jurisdiction without alerting nearby departments.
