Weekend accidents leave two dead, one arrested

The weekend was a dangerous one for Blount County drivers. Beginning late Friday evening and continuing through the night Sunday, three separate accidents across county roads left two people dead, one seriously injured and another arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

On Friday just before 8 p.m., Alcoa Police, Fire and AMR responded to reports of a crash resulting in two on-fire vehicles on Williams Mill Road at Oak Hill Drive, near Clayton-Bradley Academy. Preliminary reports allege that a white Ford Van crossed the center line and crashed into 31-year-old Jesse Malone’s, Maryville, black Honda Pilot.

According to the city’s Public Information Officer Emily Assenmacher, Malone was found unresponsive in his on-fire vehicle and later pronounced dead at Blount Memorial Hospital…
