36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Breakfast

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Port City Chapter of Blacks in Government, Inc. (B.I.G.), is hosting its 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Breakfast.

It will take place on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at The Calirojae, 1004 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL. It’s one of the Gulf Coast’s longest-standing community traditions an uplifting celebration that brings together local leaders, educators, business professionals, and residents to honor Dr. King’s legacy of service, equality, and hope.

Congressman Shomari C. Figures will be the keynote speaker this year. A proud Mobile native, Congressman Figures has dedicated his life to public service continuing a legacy that reflects the very spirit of Dr. King’s dream.

Each year, this event sells out quickly and draws 700–800 attendees from across Mobile and surrounding areas. In addition to powerful messages of unity, the breakfast supports local youth and professional development initiatives through our college scholarship program helping to build the next generation of leaders right here in our community…
