GLOUCESTER, Va. — Gloucester County Public Schools went into lockdown on Tuesday morning after several schools received threatening email messages. Achilles, Abingdon, Bethel, Botetourt, Page, and Peasley schools were placed on lockdown as law enforcement investigated the threats.
Gloucester Sheriff Darren Warren and his team worked closely with school administrators throughout the morning, and schools were shifted to “secure mode” for the remainder of the day. In secure mode, exterior doors remain locked, entry and exit are controlled, and students and staff stay inside while classes continue under heightened security.
