Prairie City Woman Pleads Guilty in Child Endangerment Case in Pella

A Prairie City woman has pled guilty for her involvement in a child endangerment incident in Pella. Twenty-one year old Taryn Elisabeth Steenhoek pled guilty to a Class D felony charge after allegedly breaking the arm of a child in her care. She received two years of probation and had a deferred sentence as part of the plea agreement. Restitution has been ordered, but was not immediately determined at last Thursday’s hearing. A civil penalty of $1,025 was due at sentencing. According to court records, the Pella Police Department investigated an incident in May in which Steenhoek was working at New Horizons in Pella.
