We started the week with heavy cloud cover on Monday, and the clouds are hanging in tough to start today. Pockets of mist and drizzle will be around this morning, with rain chances increasing this afternoon as a cold front and area of low pressure swing through the Ozarks.
Rain is expected to begin in Springfield after 3 PM, starting first in the west and working east. The rain will be steady and rates will be light to moderate. Rain will continue tonight and slowly wind down on Wednesday morning. Rainfall totals will range between 0.50″ and 1″.
That’s the rain, now let’s talk wind. The cold front will pass through in the afternoon, and behind this front is where we’ll find strong northwest winds. Winds will be breezy tonight and Wednesday following the front at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts over 35 MPH.
The rain shuts down on Wednesday morning, and the cloud cover will be slow to clear. Parts of Western Missouri may see peaks of sunshine late in the day on Wednesday, while clouds will linger into the evening farther east. Skies should clear out by Wednesday night, allowing temperatures to cool into the upper 30s. Patchy frost is going to be possible for several nights later this week.
Thursday and Friday will be cool and a little breezy. Skies on Thursday and Friday will feature a mix of sun and clouds. The additional sunshine will be welcome across the area!
Trick-or-treaters on Friday evening should plan to dress warmly. Temperatures will drop into the 40s by 8 PM with light winds and partly cloudy skies.
A passing storm to our northeast will bring a weak cold front through the Ozarks on Saturday. This will keep temperatures chilly on Saturday with a low chance for a few showers Saturday night. Southwest winds develop on Sunday and will push temperatures back up into the low 60s…
