LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Members of Michigan State University’s Black Student Alliance (BSA) say they are not happy with the university’s actions to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in student organizations on campus.
BSA representatives say that the university has moved to restrict DEI-related language in student organization constitutions and has eliminated direct funding to them and other identity-based organizations.
Tuesday, students took to the Hannah Administration Building on campus for an event called “We Will Not Be Erased,” sharing reaction, and personal stories.
Organizers with BSA say they used to receive $24,000 a year, which allowed them to hold events every week for the Spartan community, but now, they have none — and the administration told them that federal executive orders are behind their current lack of funding…
