DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) – The family of a wheelchair-bound man shot and killed by police in 2024 filed a lawsuit seeking answers about the fatal encounter that left 31-year-old Chevis Whalen dead after being shot multiple times.
Attorney Jill Craft filed the lawsuit on behalf of Whalen’s family, alleging negligence, excessive and unjustified deadly force, assault, battery, and negligent training against the City of Denham Springs through the Denham Springs Police Department.
