Eerie Look Inside St. Louis Courthouse Left Empty for Decades

Any building that’s been abandoned in St. Louis can be considered a dangerous place. That’s especially true of the Old Municipal Court Building which hasn’t been in use for more than two decades. Urban explorers just shared a new investigation to see what remains within those walls.

The Old Municipal Courts Building in downtown St. Louis has been abandoned since 2003. The architecture inside reveals the classic style that was a trademark of buildings constructed in St. Louis more than 100 years ago. I realize that the cost of renovating a structure like this would be enormous, but I don’t understand why the city and/or park service can’t find a way to preserve this building until they can come up with a new use for it. I saw someone mention that this building would make an excellent annex for an art museum. I don’t know about that, but I know it’s a crying shame that historic buildings like this are now left to decay. Let’s hope awareness can inspire a visionary to turn this into something special someday…
