RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Family hair salon, Pigtails & Crewcuts, is organizing a community effort to offer a helping hand to those affected by the federal government’s shutdown.
The salon’s Richmond location — at 1601 Willow Lawn Drive — is offering impacted families haircut vouchers, donated by other customers and community members, as part of the business’s “Open Chair Project.”
“The concept is simple but powerful,” a release from Amy Lugaro, the owner and operator of Pigtails & Crewcuts, reads. “Our team, customers, and fellow community members donate the cost of a child’s haircut in advance, creating ‘open chairs’ in our salon for families in need. When a parent calls to book or checks out for their appointment, they can simply let us know they’d like to use a donated haircut voucher if one is available. We hang available donated vouchers in our storefront window for anyone to see and use. No questions, no paperwork, no judgment. Just kindness and care.”…
