San Mateo County sheriff’s Capt. Eamonn Allen is facing backlash from local leaders after a fire inspector found he had been using rooms inside the Millbrae police station as sleeping quarters, in violation of county policy, while reportedly commuting from a home he purchased in Idaho.
This isn’t even the first time a South Bay community employee has been caught sleeping at the workplace. Two Caltrain employees were charged with felony theft in 2024 after building sleeping quarters in the Burlingame and Millbrae stations. One pleaded no contest to the charges and the other was convicted by a jury, and they collectively received six months of jail time.
According to KGO-TV, Millbrae police Chief Allen had been using the police station as “bedroom facilities” during the weekdays because he was commuting from a house he’d bought outside Boise, Idaho, in June 2024.
