Silicon Valley Power is warning Santa Clara residents about scams targeting utility customers. Scammers may contact people by phone, text, or email. They pretend to be from the utility company and ask for payments or personal information. The company states it does not request payments through prepaid cards, gift cards, third-party apps, or at grocery or convenience stores.
Residents should be aware that caller ID can be faked to show Silicon Valley Power or City of Santa Clara numbers. If you receive a suspicious request, do not provide personal information.
